Together in Love and Faith

Dear CROP Hunger Walk Leaders:           August 16, 2017

I am happy to share the good news that we will have our CROP Hunger Walk again this year and I am counting on your wonderful support and leadership to make it successful also in 2017.

Our walk location will be Riverside United Methodist Church, 1201 N Wheeling Avenue on Sunday, September 24, and 1:30 for registration and 2:00 p.m. for the walk.  The walk on the newly rebuilt Neely Avenue to McKinley and back should make this a very safe and pleasant route with the opportunity to be visible in both Muncie and Ball State University as well as suited for walkers in wheelchairs and families with strollers.  All we need is many people to join us.

We are planning a Recruiter Orientation Meeting at 6:00 p.m. on August 29 also at Riverside United Methodist Church.  This is going to be very soon and I hope I have not caused you much inconvenience by announcing it so late.  I hope that all of you will be able to come to get the new walk envelopes and see the new videos that you can also share with your church, if you wish.  New posters, flyers will also be distributed.  We have some nice pictures of your walkers and church groups with Charlie cardinal that you can take beck to share with the congregation.  The new walker envelopes are much easier to use and there are no yellow top sheets to worry about. Please come early at 5:30 to enjoy pizza and fellowship before the program.  We will also have last year’s report from Joan McKee, who will also be our treasurer for this walk.

My deepest thanks to all of you for dedicated leadership and volunteering last year and many years.  Very special thanks to Pastor Lisa Schubert Nowling and Nichole Call for hosting us last year and inviting Charlie Cardinal to walk with us!  Thanks to our Mayor Dennis Tyler for his proclamation from the city of Muncie. Thank you, Gwen and Phil Carey for giving your heart to CROP for as long as it existed and also being the top fundraiser all these years.  We will miss you on our planning committee, but hope to see you at the walk. And welcome to new leaders, especially Rebekah Simpson from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church!  I hope to see all who can attend at the August 29 meeting.

Peace to all!

Therese Weakland, Muncie Area CROP  Walk coordinator for 2017
